EVERYDAYLSVALETINE (Ching mai daai wa wong) (2001)

Part 1

Part 2

Kin-Dza-Dza (1986)

Part 1

Part 2

Kin-Dza-Dza is something like an "advanced cyberpunk film". It's a lot about people and social structures which on "Plyuk" of course have many parallels to our society. It's a very funny movie, but it's also a melancholic movie with great philosophical sense. Written by Anonymous

Two Humans, "Uncle Vova" and "Skripach"(Fiddler) accidentally find themselves on another planet after pushing the wrong button on the strange device in the hand of an odd hobo, claiming to be an alien. Planet "Plyuk" in the galaxy "Kin-Dza-Dza" looks like a desert. All "aliens" look human, and can understand Russian, after reading uncle Vova's mind. Their own language is mostly telepathic and is limited to 11 words - 10 plus "KU" - all other words. The whole paradox of Plyuk is that their civilization is much more advanced than ours in time and space traveling, weaponry and so on, but totally barbarian in the social way. There is a special (and only) way to identify two groups of creatures by pointing a little device on the person, orange light - "Chitlanin" (superior), green - "Patsak" (lower class). The most valued things on the planet are matches witch are equivalent to 2200 "Chatles". Uncle Vova and Skripach, have a long and dangerous journey in store in order to get home... Belle verte, La (1996)

Empire Records (1995)

Rated PG-13 for sexual situations, language and a drug issue.

A day in the life of the employees of Empire Records. Except this is a day where everything comes to a head for a number of them facing personal crises - can they pull through together? And more importantly, can they keep their record store independent and not swallowed up by corporate greed? Written by Anonymous

Empire Records is going to be turned into a Music Town. It is up to the wacky employees to figure out a way to raise enough money to help their boss Joe keep the store from changing hands. They also deal with problems amongst themselves, love, and a has-been spoiled rock star named Rex Manning. Written by Josh Pasnak {chainsaw@intouch.bc.ca}

Where The Buffalo Roam (1980)

The deranged adventures of Gonzo journalist Hunter Thompson and his attorney Oscar Acosta, referred to in the movie as "Laslow". Thompson attempts to cover the Super Bowl and the 1972 Presidential election in his typical drug-crazed state, but it continually and comically sidetracked by his even more twisted friend Laslow. Allegedly based on actual events. Written by John Rumpelein {usviking@imageek.york.cuny.edu}

Dr. Hunter Thompson, who is better known as the character in the Doonesbury Comic Strips Zonker's Uncle Duke, shows what earned his reputation for Gonzo Journalism, a sort of sideways way of looking at the news, including such things as giving away superbowl tickets so that he can review it from his hotel room while bouncing a football of the walls. A sort of later day cousin to stream of consciousness writing. Written by John Vogel {jlvogel@comcast.net}

Sukkar banat (2007)

Rated PG for thematic elements involving sexuality, language and some smoking.

Six women in Beirut seek love, marriage, and companionship and find duty, friendship, and possibility. Four work at a salon: Nisrine, engaged to Bassam, with a secret she shares with her co-workers; Jamale, a divorced mother of teens, a part-time model, fearing the encroachment of time; Rima, always in pants, attracted to Siham, a client who smiles back; Layale, in love with a married man, willing to drop everything at a honk of his horn. There's also Rose, a middle-aged seamstress, who cares for Lili, old and facing dementia. Rose has a suitor; Layale has an admirer on the police force. Is delight a possibility? Is caramel a sweet or an instrument of pain? Written by {jhailey@hotmail.com}

Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj (2006)

Rated R for pervasive crude sexual content, some nudity and language.

Of East Indian origin, Taj Mahal Badalandabad lives in Coolidge, U.S.A. along with his dad, Dilip, mom, and sister. After hearing about his dad's exploits at Camford University in Britain, he re-locates there. When he arrives he is royally received by the elite, only to be humiliated and told this reception was because of a 'typographical error'. He thus re-locates to his new quarters in a distant wreck of a building called the 'barn' - reserved for 'losers'. When he gets over this welcome, Taj must now come to terms with the Queen's language, her dialect, and the racial profiling ('Curry-breath', 'Paki'), and a busty Charlotte Higginson, who is not only better at fencing, but is also intent to ensure his dismissal. Hilarious results follow when Taj decides to fight the Queen and her people at their own game(s) with the help of fellow losers and a horny bulldog. Written by rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

The People Under the Stairs (1991)

The People Under the Stairs is the story of a young boy (Fool) from the ghetto and takes place on his 13th birthday. In an attempted burglary (along with two others) of the home of his family's evil landlords, he becomes trapped inside their large suburban house and discovers the secret of the "children" that the insane brother and sister have been "rearing" under the stairs. Written by chinagirl

A young boy (about 10 years of age) helps his sister's boyfriend burgle the house of their money grabbing landlord. The house is a cross between that of the Adams Family and Fort Knox.. The burglars manage to get in but they cannot get out. The owners return. Locked inside the house, unable to escape, the boy witnesses the horrific habits of the owners, and the numerous caged "people under the stairs". Written by Rob Hartill

A thirteen year old boy nicknamed Fool (Brandon Adams) lives in the ghetto and has found out his family is going to get evicted from their run down apartment. On top of that he learns his Mother is dying of cancer. Fool is persuaded by family friend, Leroy(Ving Rhames) to sneak into the landlords' home to steal a prized coin collection rumored to be in their home. Desperate to help save his Mother's life and the family from being thrown into the streets, Fool goes with Leroy and Leroy's friend, Spenser(Jeremy Roberts) to the house. They use all sorts of disguises to get in, but it doesn't work. Once they force their way into the house, they realize they got a lot more than they were looking for. After Spenser and Leroy are tragically killed, Fool tries to escape. Running for his life, he bumps into the landlords' daughter, Alice, a young abused girl full of nothing but scars and fear. Fool feels sympathy towards Alice and persuades her to escape with him. Fool then finds out that the evil and sadistic landlords(Wendy Robie and Everett McGill) are not a married couple but brother and sister who kidnap young boys and keep them locked up in the cellar. Fool will stop at nothing to save them and in the end Fool becomes the movie's hero. Written by PUTS rox
